Van views Dear Editor: fivery North Vancouver citizen should be worried about the North Shore News story of July 17 concern- ing the deal on the high-rise bemg made between North Vancouver City Council and Bosa Brothers. It is apparent that city council has given Bosa Brothers tentative approval for the plan to build a 22 to 25-storey high-rise at Lonsdale Quay. The three- month secrecy term will allow Bosa Brothers to pro- duce detailed plans for the development, which will include sight lines and traffic pattern studies, and be complete with a model of the project. This will then be presented to council and a public hearing will be held at which the voices of nearby property owners, including the city, will be heard. The voices of the tenants of the low-rise apartments and the homeowners on the slope whose views will be gone, will probably carry no weight and the project will be approved. There are currently four high-rises of 12 to JS storeys below 4th Street and the waterfront. Imagine what a 22-storey one will look like! It will be the bevinning of a, Berlin Wall of conerete and glass that will eliminate all chance of anyone on the south slopes ever seeing Stanley Park, Burrard Inlet or the Van- couver skyline again from their windows. All North Vancouver residents who valuz their views should be on the phone to their council members and the mayor to get this veil of secrecy lifted and be allowed their say at the beginning of negotiations.
