RON ZALKO’S International Plaza Hotel health club
will be hosting a junior tennis tournament June 13,
14, 20 and 21.

Over $1,000 in prize money and various other prizes
from the tournament sponsors will be offered.

The tournament will feature the top eight players
from B.C. in each age division for boys and girls.

THE WESTVIEW Cycle-Ron Zaiko Bicycle Racing Club rode to three
first-place finishes in recent Lower Mainland races.

Club riders placed first and second in category five of the recent
Nanaimo Road Race and also placed fourth in categories one, two and
three and fifth in the race’s veterans and juniors categories.

At the April 26 Victoria Criterium, Westview riders placed second in
categories four and five. :

Over the April 17 Easter weekend, the club finished first in categories
three and five. .

The club also participated in the recent Two-Day Race.

Capiiano Tennis Club
hosts annual tourney

THE Capilano Tennis Club hosted the annual North Shore Closed Tennis
Tournament from May 16 to 23.

The winners: Men’s singles: Trevor Richards defeated Jim Rogers 6-2, 6-0; Ladies’ singles:
Alison Olynyk defeated May Birrell 6-0, 7-5; Men’s Doubles: Uve Nahnen and Trevor
Richards defeated Bruce Thompson and Tibor Soltez 7-6, 6-2; Men’s 45 Doubles: Ron Ng and
Jim Rogers defeated Uve Nahnsen and George Smith 6-3, 7-5; Mixed Doubles: Bill Nordmark
and May Birrell defeated Ron Richards and Lore Acton 6-4, 1-6, 6-3; Under 18 Boy’s singles:
Cyrus Pejan defeated Marcus Andersson 6-0, 6-1; Men's Consolation Singles: Kirk Gamley
defeated Bruce Thompson 7-5, 6-2. -

Tournament director Brett Hobden, a former
Australian international player, has arranged for the
finals to be televised.

Matches begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m.
