to ight a Fall election Assembly opening delayed until November QUEBEC (UPC) - Premier Rene Levesque says the Parti Quebecois is ready to fight a fall election if necessary, but that sovereignty association won't be part of the PQ platform. Levesque said party workers had been placed on alert for a _ possible fall election following a special two-day weekend meeting of the party’s executive in Quebec City. Levesque said he hadn't yet made up his mind on an election date but that the Sept. 8-12 constitutional talks in Ottawa would be one of the factors affecting his decision. “After all, we're not going into another referendum like the one we had in May, but all of that has led to what is supposed to be a new try at renewal of federalism.” he said. Such renewed federalism, Levesque said, would PET CORNER theoretically make it possible for a federal system to dovetail with the essential priorities of the provinces, and especially Quebec's desire to be a “national homeland”. The executive also ap- proved the holding of 15 Domination conventions beginning in September, and Levesque told reporters the part was ready should he decide to go to the polls this fall. “It makes me feel good in this sense,” Levesque said. “Whether it’s fall or later... I won't have to ask myself before making a decision, ‘is the party ready, are we in good shape?’ I think we are, whatever the decision is about when the election comes.” Levesque said the next Quebec election would not be fought on the issue of sovereignty association, regardiess of when it was held.
