NS cricketers outrun Richmond On a pitch known as a batsman’s paradise, the North Shore ‘cricket team last weekend out run Richmond I in a high scoring game, in which 365 runs were scored in the span of less than five hours. ‘Batting first at Minoru Park, Richmond scored 182 runs. in:.about. three hours. *. Opening -batsman .D.Melder was the top scorer with 45 Vass Gunaratna_who. was the best bowler. of the day, took five wickets for 56 runs. : . 4° ‘Faced with such .a high. score to beat in about two hours, the North Shore team decided to go for the win rather than play for a draw. P.Pisani and W.Sims opened well for the team, by scoring 41 and 24 respec- tively. G.Collins kept the pace up . by scoring a brisk 32 runs, and Jim Mitchell and Vass Gunaratna both scored 28, with Mitchell remaining not out. Larry White finished it off for the North Shore by scoring 15 not. out. It took the North Shore team only 110 minutes to ‘score 183 runs in less than 30 overs. The win gives the N.S. team a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses for the season. Steveston, the rally will run for a distance of 160 kilometres, of which 98 per cent will be over paved roads. The Dogwood rally will be beld July 1, and is sanctioned by the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs. . .
