THE New Democratic Party of British Columbia is choosing a new head honcho to lead the party into the next elections. Most pundits and editori- alists have been masticating tirelessly On episodes of cor- tuption, lies and mismanage- ment, but seem incapable of connecting the ideological dots: the NDP's autocratic governance is rooted in its coercive socialist ideology — an ideology that all candi- dates share. Short of instituting a command economy, NDP emissaries have pursued sin- gularly a regime of collee- tivism, taxation and reguia- tion, all of which has hob- bled B.C.’s economy, and diminished the personal tree- dams of her residents. On the world stare, socialism has reinvented itself’ successfully and has surfaced in the guise of the vaunted Third Way, whose main appa- ‘tatchiks are the Clintons, the pair from Cool Britannia and the German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder. Proponents of this option claim it is more than “opin- ion poll-driven platicudes” — it offers a path of “substan- tive policy prescriptions,” sit- vated berween the “Old tism surts wend he har eral Liberals. you get effer mailbox Lett” and the “New Right”. With Third Way pragma- ing in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, federal NDP leader Alexa MeDonough has begun to way to the Holy atform of bal- they anced budgets, tax relief, even offering an olive splinter to small business. In their choice of where sink public money, Third Way politicos ignore that when “money is targeted at firms and industries that government rather than the market deems deserving, much of it will be wasted.” Third Way politicians refuse to concede that tax cuts increase government revenue. People go outside of ski area boundaries “looking for the perfect run which cn some- times put their lite or someone else’s lite at risk. This type of behaviour can be calied extreme; it can also be called extremely stupid. “The best solution is education. There are people in the community pre- pared to help educate peuple who wish to push their personal limits. Charging people who require the services of search and rescue is not the solution. Perhaps their urcatest blight is what Basham terms “communitarian philosophy.
