Gray is one happy fella!
Bob’s the highly-
respected production
manager of dozens of focally-film-
ed movies over the past 20 years. |
recall working for him as a stand-
in in the first major film ever pro-
duced here. It was J. Arthur
Rank’s big budget feature, “The
Trap,” starring Rita Tushingham
and Oliver Reed, which was shot
up in Pemberton and in the old
Pemberton Film Studios, and
which used every extra in town.
Bob’s also.a former B.C. Film
Commissioner, and has worked
with the producers and directors
on all “The Love Boat’ specials,
filmed all over the world, in-
cluding the very latest effort which
was shot in the Caribbean and will
be shown on Valentine’s Day.

But the big news about Bob is
that, for the first time in his career,
he also acted as one of the pro-
ducers on “Look Who's Talk-
ing,” which, when it was filmed
here, was called ‘‘Daddy’s
Home.”

It stars John Travolta, Kirstie
Alley and George Segal, along
with Bruce Willis as the voice of
the baby. The item is that the film
has taken in $83 million in 5
weeks. ‘“‘Look Who's Talking’ is
predicted to break the $100 mil-
lion mark before the end of the
year. And it all happened right
here in our own backyard!

She’s just as friendly and outgo-
ing as America’s favorite clown,
Red Skelton, who was in town last
week, and she’s in excellent
shape. Mind you, she has been
exercising strenuously for the past
three months to get into condition
for this arduous role, which also
happens to be her favorite. It’s a
role she had to fight to get! The
producers originally wanted
Shirley MacLaine to be the ir-
respressible Molly, but determined
Debbie won out.

But in a rather bizarre twist, in
the movie that director Mike
Nicols is currently filming, based
on her daughter Carrie Fisher’s
book, “Post Cards From The
Edge,’’ Meryl Streep plays Carrie
and Shirley gets to play Debbie! ...

Reynolds is a non-stop mimic,
imitating ladies from Zsa Zsa to
Greta Garbo, to Streisand. She
even did a take-off to ex-husband,
Eddie Fisher’s ‘‘Oh My Papa!’’
and “‘Lady of Spain.” And no,
she doesn’t do Elizabeth Taylor
imitations, thank you! ...

changed vows with her groom,
Shane Patchett.

The daughter of Gail and Arnold
Jeffrey and the son of Mr. and
Mrs. James Patchett were wed in
a late-afternoon High Mass cere-
mony at St. Anthony’s Catholic
Church in West Van.

This was followed with a gala
cocktail reception and buffet din-
ner for 250 guests at Le Meridien
Hotel. The dark-haired bride ware
an original long-trained gown of
ivory satin, created by the well-
known North Shore designer,
Margareta, as were Susan’s SEVEN
