The West Vancouver Recre- ation Centre, however, is offering incentive to exercise by hosting an aerobic workout with special guest instructors on Friday, Dec. 16. Joan Santipinto, Crystal Light Aerobic Championship finalist, and Denis Gagnon, owner of Le Physique fitness training centre, will team teach an energetic one- hour aerobic workout from 9 to 10 a.m, Santipinto, who has a post- graduate degree in exercise physi- ology, has modelled for maga- zines, lectured at national fitness conferences and, most recently, has toured Hong Kong on behalf of Nike and the Canadian gov- é.nment to train instructors and update their fitness industry. Gagnon is well known to the fitness community on the North Shore for his vigorous, athletic workouts. Formerly of the RCMP, he has competed successfully in triathlons in the past. His efforts are now directed to developing his Friendship society sponsors contest IT’S TIME to take out your cam- era, dust off the lens and start tak- ing pictures. The Seymour- Asumigaoka Friendship Society is sponsoring a photo contest. The Seymour area of North Vancouver has a sister community in Asumigaoka, Japan. The Friendship Society would like to send some pictures of scenic British Columbia to its friends in Japan. The theme of the contest is Westcoast Lifestyles. The contest is open to anyone living or working in North Van- couver. Students are encouraged to enter as well. There is a separate category for children 16 and under. The winning photo will be printed in the North Shore News. Winners will also have their photos displayed in various stores and copies will be sent to the sister community, Asumigaoka, Japan. It costs nothing to enter the con- test. Top adult prize is $400 and top student prize is $200. Photos submitted should be 5’'x7”’ color prints. Negatives of the winning photo must be made available to the society for enlargements. Entry forms can be picked up at your local library, recreation cen- tre or most photo shops in North Vancouver. Mail entries to: Seymour-Asumigaoka Friendship Society, Photo Contest, c/o 252 East Ist St., North Vancouver, B.C. V7L 1B3. Each entry should be accom- panied by a title and the location of the photo. Amateur photographers only are eligible, and entrants are allowed a max- imum of two entries. Closing date for the contest is Feb. 15, 1989. The Seymour-Asumigaoka Friendship Society was formed in July 1987 when the Seymour area of North Vancouver became the sister community of Asumigaoka, Japan. The purpose of the society is to foster friendship and cooper- ation between the two communities working toward a better understanding of the two coun- tries, Communities, cultures and lifestyles involved, through ex- change visits and various forms of communication and study. Quick fit, Tuesday and Thursday at 7 a.m., comes complete with cof- fee, convenient parking and hot showers.
