4700 Wednesday, Februges 10. 298 - North Shore News ee = IFESTYLES _ Communication skills organization turns 50 ONE OF the largest self-help otganizations in the world is cur- rently celebrating its SOth anniver- sary year. fnternarional Training in] Com- munication (ITC), with one club in San Francisco in 1938, has ex- panded world-wide and now has aver 1,400 clubs, In the Vancouver area there are 199 members in 2] autonomous clubs. ITC has helped over 200,060 people communicate, lead and or- ganize their personal and business activities more successfully. Fiorenza Albert-Howard, cur- rent president of the Hollybuarn club, believes there has not been one member whose fife has not been enriched by the training received in an ITC club. The main objective of ITC is to help men and women prepare for daily challenges in communication skills and leadership roles. Meetings, seminars and con- ferences are held throughout the year in various countries where [TC clubs exist, culminating in an annual July convention. The Golden Anniversary Convention will convene in Orlando, Florida, in July. At the international convention, members of all nations represented can communicate with one another on subjects of mutual interest. Members corne to 4 greater understanding of the cultures of other nations, thereby fulfilling the ultimate objective of ITC to bring about better understanding throughout the world, ITC is a_ self-supporting organization, run through the ef- forts of its own members and the nominal fees they pay.
