For little guys from 6 weeks to 2 years old, there are Parent and Preschool lessons each Friday and Saturday morning. This pro- gram focuses on water orien- tation and stresses relaxing water play and pre swimming skills. For tots 3 years and older, there are a variety of “ hour Tiny Tot swim classes offered both morning and afternoons throughout the week. Tiny Tots progress from the lower (beginning) level to the stage where they learn to float and move. freely. in the water. They then advance into upper level classes where swimming skills are taught. Graduates from the Tiny Tot program move into Tadpole | and II where skills are refined and swimming distance is increased. Some specialty offerings of tots and toddlers include pro- grams such as Diaper Gym and Swim (6 mo-2 yrs.) and Tiny Tot Gym and Swim (3-5 yrs). both “consisting” of: 4 hour matactivity.and hour water classes. The level of | swim instruction in these classes is geared to the age = and swimming ability of each -- individual child. School age children’s pro~ grams are offered after - school on a bi-weekly basis as . 8 well as once per week after school or Saturday morning. Racing at Ex Park beginning. B.C. JOCKEY Club an- nounced recently that its 1984 racing season at Exhibition Park will begin Sunday, April 8 and close Sunday, October 14, a total of 109 racing days. The opening and closing will be the only two Sunday racing days on the calendar, approved by the B.C. Racing Commission. The Track, with one excep- tion, will race Monday, Wednesday, and Friday even- ings and Saturday and holi- day afternoons in 1984. There will be no racing on Good Friday, April 20. Five holiday Mondays are on the schedule: Victoria Day, May 21; Canada Day, July 2; B.C. Day, August 6; ‘Labour Day, September 3, and Thanksgiving Day, Oc- tober 8. Parade to the Post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings will be 6:15 pm with parade times on Saturdays and holidays at 1:15 pm. Meanwhile, season tickets pril 8 for both the clubhouse and grandstand are now on sale at The Track. A season ticket for the clubhouse can be purchased for $200 while a grandstand season ticket may be purchas- ed for $150. Discount books of 10 tickets are also available — $35 for clubhouse and $20 for grandstand. Ali are available from the general office at The Track, 9 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Ringette’s best in B.C. ALMOST 500 girls from across the country will be calling Port Coquitiam their home in early April. They will be participating in the sixth annual Ringette Canada national championships, slated for April 2-7, 1984, at the Post Coquitlam Arena. The host commitice, to- gether with Port Coquitlam Ringette, British Columbia Ringette and Ringette Canada, are working together to ensure an exciting schedule of games which will see nine provinces competing in three age divisions. This is the first ume a B.C. community has hosted this event in the 20 year history of ringette. Previous national championships have been held in Winnipeg. Waterloo, Sudbury, Dartmouth and Ed- monton.
