(Elisworth Dickson photo) Councils unite for hearing clinic North Vancouver City council has supported a West Vancouver move to try eand have a hearing clinic established on the North Shore. Council last week sup- ported the West Van resolution to have the three North Shore council representatives on the Board of Health mect with Raef Mair to discuss the request for a hearing clinic. The move was taken because of epmplaints that provincial government refuses to commit itself on the question of a hearing clinic. Council referred to “a very ambivalent letter” which Mair sent to the Board of Health in which he said there was little hope for a clinic, but offered no answers to the concerns expressed by the board. . A report on the Burnaby hearing centre, which had been requested at an earlier meeting, was also discussed by council at the Monday night meeting. Fire staff FROM PAGE A1 Evans also mentioned the fire prevention inspections carried out by the depart- ment and said “our fire prevention staff worked very hard during the year, and | firmly believe their efforts Alderman Elko Kroon said the funding of that centre could not be used as a guide of how much the North Shore would have pay because the government is inconsistent in their funding of hearing programs. raised are a major factor in keeping our community fire loss to a minimum.” About the department training program, the fire chief said “a great deal of emphasis was applied to ‘procedures for handling Hazardous Materials.” Holtyburn Funeral Home has been honored to serve many families on the North Shore since 1937, and we take this opportunity to THANK YOU.
