Flood records in the district are not well documented but it is known that a major Mosquite Creek flood caused significant property damage on Nov. 3, 1955. Culverting of many North Shore creeks was proposed by the Greater = Vancouver Regional District in the ’60s to reduce potential flood damage, but citizen protest resulted in the installation of only a few culverts such as sections of Mosquito and Kilmer creeks. West Vancouver suffered a serious flood on Dec. 25, 1972, and other significant local floods occurred through the °70s.
