BC Supreme Court Justice Raymond Paris said Guess had “embarked on a sexual adven- ture” that constituted “an attack on the judicial process.” The sentencing of Guess, 43, took less than half an hour. Ir was the culmination of a process thar began two years ago. A crowd hiled Courtroom 55 to hear Guess’ fate. It was the same courtroom where Guess sat on a jury dur- ing the trial of Peter Gill and five other men accused of mur- der. Guess had an affair with Gill while continuing on as a juror. Phone p Liam Lahey Contributing Writer BC Tel called upon North Vancouver City Council Monday to support a proposal that would expand the North Shore’s toll- free calling area. In a presentation to council BC Tel business manager Linda schneider said the change would come with a rate hike. “This proposal is very important to BC Tel customers and your constituents,” Schneider said. “A $1.75 per month increase added onto our residential customer’s regular phone bill will apply ... BC Tel does not stand to make any profit whatsoever from this rate increase.” NV City backs BC Tel bid to expand local calling area, charge exira for service The city answered by voting 4-2 to support the plan. Councillors John Braithwaite and Stella Jo Dean were opposed. BC Tel deveioped the plan at the request of the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD). The proposal is to elimi- nate long-distance charges for all calls within. the Vancouver area. BC Tel customers living in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and Richmond will face a 50-cent increase per month should the plan go through.
