Since first calling the Alaskans “pirates* 7 for allegedly taking too many B.C. sockeye salmon, he has threatened to punish the U.S. by encouraging B.C. fisher- men to “aggressively” fish the Fraser sockeye run and by closing the Nanoose Bay torpedo test range used by the U.S. Navy. There was even talk that the provincial gov- ernment sould pay the fegal bills of fishermen who block- aded an Alaskan ferry for three days in Prince Rupert. Opinions are mixed.
