A closer look at the year that a new North Shore publication was born

DO YOU remember 1969? It
was a time of high technology
and huge social change. A
time when more than half the
population was under the age
of.30 and middle-class North
America had more money than
ever before to spend on dish-
washers, color TVs and elec-
tric can openers.

EVENTS

W “The Eagle has landed.” The
Apollo II space mission successful-
ly touched down on the moon. Neil
Armstrong, the first person to set
foot on the moon, radioed back to
Earth: “That’s one small step for
man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Hi Canada’s Official Languages

Act, the cornerstone of institutional
bilingualism, was enacted.

the three-clay Woodstock Music
