Skiers hit slopes for good cause iF THE N.S. News Cruisers can ski as fast as they got their ski team together, the B.C. Lions Society for Crippled Children should be flush with money. Only days ago the Cruisers were 2a mere collection of North Shore News employees with a claset pas- sion for skiing. Today the N.S. News Cruisers form a sleek, lightning-fast skiing machine that will broach no obstacles in its quest to raise funds during Saturday’s 24-Hour Ski Marathon on Grouse Moun- tain, The transformation came about last week when News production manager Vicki Sargisson — now Capt. Sargisson decided to form a North Shore News team to enter the 24-hour ski marathon. She thought it would be tough to get 12 people willing to ski at ‘tungodly’’ hours of the night. But it wasn’t. Sargisson reports: There are enough ‘‘wackos"’ at the News to fit the bill. So tomorrow at 10 a.m., the Cruisers will be among 43 teams and nine individuals entering the ski marathon. The Cruisers’ goal is to ski a tota! of 150 runs. This means that each of the 12 Cruisers will ski 12.5 runs to raise money for the B.C. Lions Society for Crippled Children and the Dis- abled Skiers Association of B.C. The N.S. News Cruisers team includes Geoff Ross, Rod Bartlett, Craig Wilson, Jan Bailey, Terry Peters, Pau’ McGrath, Leslie McClelland, Rand Whittleton, Garry Crossley and Trixi Agrios, as well as two non-Newsers, Michael Agrios and Lindsie Nicholson.
