ONE OF the best parts of the holiday season is indulging in rich, home-made food and relaxing around the fire with strenuous exercise, a fitness package at any one of the North Shore recreation centres is an ideal way to get in shape. A popular program is the quarterly total fitness package, says Ron Andrews Recreation Centre program coordinator John Mullan. The package includes, among other things, use of the health club, entrance to fitness classes — water exercises, aerobics, gym fitness — and use of the weight room and pool. Other centres offer special fitness packages for teens and seniors and special workouts for peeple with heart and back pro- blems. Getting in shape is on most peo- ple’s minds these days, and that includes healthier lifestyles: good, balanced diets and smoke-free lungs. The holidays continually test our patience and willpower. If quitting smoking is your goal you may find it easter after you’ve done a little research into the physical effects of smoking.
