False advertising charges dropped SIX CHARGES of false advertising were dismissed Thursday (Feb. 12) against a North Vancouver businessman. Louis McInnis was jointly named with M&L Oil Co. Ltd. in the six charges which stemmed from advertisements placed in various Lower Mainland newspapers from Oct. 4 to 13, 1985 and from Dec. 14, 1985 to Jan. 16, 1986. The ads claimed that instailation of the Humbug Gas Saver in vehicles would result in better mileage, better performance, more power and less pollution. Appearing before North Vancouver provincial court Judge J.D. Layton, McInnis ‘pleadcd not guilty to all charges, which were subsequently dismissed. Man faces fraud charges A 40-YEAR-OLD Vancouver man has been ordered to stand trial in Vancouver county court on four criminal charges lnid against him in connection with alleged fraud against B.C. Van District Council dumps container service RESIDENTIAL CONTAINER waste removal services are being dumped by the District of North Vancouver. Council recently decided against offering, a container service that was provided on a limited trial basis last year. “The policy is not being pursued simply because private en- trepreneurs can do it) cheaper,” said Ald.
