Council voted 6-0 to join the project initiated by Van- couver Mayor Mike Har- court. Ald. Mary Segal, as coun- cil’s representative, will be approaching North Van- couver City and West Van- couver to establish a joint North Shore effort. In a letter to council, Harcourt extended an invita- tion tc join Phase If of the campaign. “We must help those people to grow their own food so that we will not ex- perience another tragedy like this again,’ Harcourt wrote. The campaign, although not a fund-raiser, provided the organization for fun- draising in the community through schools, clubs, labor and business. Segal said it.is her hope to repeat the success of the campaign on the North Shore through the coopera- tion of all three local gov- ernments.
