Dear Editor: . A letier critical of me, written by Kathy Dornan of the North Shore Women's Centre, appeared in the June 2 News. «However, | had already NS) responded by fax. a week ear- lier, directly to the centre’s chairperson Ms Cooper in connection with the concerns ‘expressed by both her, and ‘Ms. Dornan. Following are excerpts from my May 26 fax to Ms Cooper, dealing with the - points’ raised in Ms Dornan’s fetter. “I drive by your offices on a regular basis, and I took the _time to drop in for a few min- “utes one day last summer, so I ‘am’: well. aware that the ¥ .NSWC and the NSCSS work within’ the same overall” -ground floor office space. . ““L: was, not, however, ‘aware. that there was a sub- leasing arrangement, and ithough there are two glass ‘doors | Numbered 3093 and 3095, separated by about 15 feet of window, it is very casy for a visitor to assume that the activities taking place are of a ‘cooperative nature and not distinctly separate. As far as 1 know, there is no rule against different organiza- tions at her the same address applying for funding. In fact, it has been quite common in past years. The grants committees, though, seem to have wanted to tic such applications together in order to get an overall picture of activities based at a single address, “Iam sorry that Ms Dornan interpreted the sen- tence in the advertorial the way she did,. but I cannot accept the text as being “incredibly inflammatory”. “Yn addition, | am at a loss to understand how Ms Dornan came to the
