joins
national
orchestra

ACCLAIMED NORTH Van-
couver flutist Joanna G’Froerer
has been named principle flute
of the National! Arts Centre Or-
chestra in Ottawa.

The 20-year-old Windsor
Secondary grad is one of the
youngest musicians ever to join
the orchestra.

During her school years in
North Vancouver G’Froerer
studied with Kathleen Rudolph,
principal flute of CBC’s Van-
couver Orchestra, and went on
to study with Timothy Hut-
chins, principal flute of the
Montreal Symphony Orchestra,
at McGill University.

A former member of the
Vancouver Academy Or-
chestra, the Vancouver Youth
Symphony Orchestra and the
World Youth Symphony Or-
chestra, G’Froerer begins her
professional career this fall fol-
lowing a summer term with the
“National Youth Orchestra of
Canada.
