NV student wins premier’s award
Karen Derkach one of 14 honored by province

NORTH Vancouver’s Karen
Derkach was one of only 14
top B.C. secondary school
graduates to be presented
recently with the 1991]
Premier’s Excellence
Award.

Derkach attended Handsworth
Secondary School.

During the recent awards cere-
mony, Premier Mike Harcourt
praised the students’ achievement.

“Their energy and creativity are
a resource they’ve applied well in
serving their schools and com-
munities,”’ said Harcourt.
