invited to walk event

British Columbia Friends of their late teens, often robbing

Schizophrenics (NSFOS) has
scheduled a ‘“‘World Walk Against
Schizophrenia’? for Sunday, Sept.
29, at 1 p.m.

The walk will start at John
Lawson Park, located at 15th
Street and Bellevue Avenue and
proceed along the seawall to
Dundarave and back again.

After the 40-minute walk, food
and refreshments will be served to
participants at John Lawson Park.
“The event was first initiated in
the United Kingdom four years
ago and each year an increasing
number of countries are joining in
this global event,”’ say organizers.

Schizophrenia is an organic
brain disease that strikes one in

them of their potential and hope
for leading a normal life.

Through awareness activities

such as the walk, NSFOS hopes to
educate people about the illness,
give support to people with the
illness and their families, and to
provide research funds for the
newly established Chair of
Research of Schizophrenia at
UBC.
- “NSFOS extends a warm wel-
come to North Shore residents
who may want to join them in
their efforts to educate, advocate
and fundraise by taking part in
the walk."’
