10 — Friday, December 9, 1988 - North Shore News WV mayor gives waste management a priority From page 3 Report, on a monthly basis, rather than two or three times a year. He named waste management as another priority for the coming year, particulariy as there will be a 25 per cent increase in the garbage utility fee, resulting from an in- crease in GVRD disposal charges. Lanskail announced plans to progress to a curb-side recycling pickup program to help reduce the waste stream. This would entai! closure of the present recycling depots which have proved unpopular in the neighborhoods. The formation of an Outdoor Burning Task Force is in response to complaints from those residents who are against outdoor burning. Solutions will be sought, bearing in mind that West Vancouver is a garden community that generates a lot of yard waste, with a popula- tion that generally supports burn- ing. The future will also see a review of the noise bylaw and the laws permitting total clearing of resi- dential lots, along with appropriate action on the bulk housing study. Looking back on the past two years, Lanskail concluded that the return to office of all incumbents demonstrates the community’s confidence.
