NVI eag! Dear Editor: Your cditorial of Jan. & concer- ning the cagle nesting site in North Vancouver District was incorrect on several points. Firstly, the cditerial stated that Che district had frozen continued development of a 146-unit housing project. In fact, only 14 lots are Cove people not ‘refined’ Dear Editor: Just for the fun of it | decided to go to the public information mecting concerning the Matsumoto residential development. It was quite enlightening to see that the ‘Cove"’ really the refined fot that they endeavor to appear. This was made apparent when a courageous soul stood up and tricd to make a point not in harmony with the ma- ‘jority of those in attendance. His point was taxes and how the Save Our Shores (SOS) proposal would not’ amclicrate our tax situ- ation one little bit. I agree. It seems that there are three parcels of land in this arca, Mr. R.A. Killen Jr. of the SOS Organization seems to think that it should be no problem for the district to procure these pieces of land at two million a pop and turn them into park land. Six million dollars and that is just the cost of acquisition not to mention im- provements and maintenance. it seems to me like a lot of moncy to spend on the people of Roche ‘Point. Perhaps these anti-change pco- ple are right. | say leave the land as waterfront industrial. The district could generate tax dollars from the site by encouraging a nice low- profile container facility or perhaps a coal or sulphur loading area. Brock Davidson North Vancouver MiarLBox being held of f the market. Secondly, the editorial stated that the nesting site was unoc- cupied. En fact, the nest is being used from time ta ime as is nor. malin this pre-nesting season, Thirdly, the editorial setted that the delay of the Roche Point development will scare off further development. [a fact, the district is in # process of marketing over 1,000 lots in Roche Point, Indian River, McCartney Woods and Kilmer Creek. Fourthly, the editorial described the efforts to preserve a 100-metre buffer zone around the nest as “environmental extremism dr fact, the buffer sone as supported people are nol .
