FROM PAGE A1 The car chase occurred after a call to West Van- couver Police reporting that the occupants of the 1978 Ford had held a gun to a woman and then raped her. A similar complaint by another woman had been made to West Van _ the previous night. Police report the case involves one woman of 17 and one of 24 who were picked up in Vancouver on consécutive nights in the early hours of the morning and were then taken to West Vancouver where they were raped. REPEAT RAPE The following’ night another woman was picked up in downtown Vancouver and police allege that this time the two men took her to Dvorak’s home, where she was raped at gunpoint. Afterwards, police report, the men drove the woman home out to the Westmount area and released her. Police were given a description of the car almost immediately when the woman went to a house near where she had been dropped off and asked for help, The car chase began when the suspect car was spotted on Taylor Way by a West Van Police patrol officer. Police report that the two cars reached speeds of 120 km.h as they sped through Edgemont Village in a chase that doubled back on itself through North Vancouver. After spotting the Ford on Taylor Way, the patrol man was led on a chase into North Vancouver, up Capilano Road, through Edgemont Village, over the romised help “IT have beem unsuccessful in getting any progress to date on repair of the storm sewer access,” Clark added. He asked council to put the storm sewer underground in the long run, but meanwhile would like West Van to use its men and equipment to repair his neighbor's retaining wall, his own drainage system and _ his driveway. Mayor Derrick Hum- phreys promised Clark that acuion would be forthcoming and complimented him on such a clear presentation. CHASE RESUMED The Ford is reported to have passed a car on a blind corner and spun around at Mount Royal. Thinking the chase was over, police got out of their car but the Ford took off again, speeding east along Mount Royal and turning off when another West Van Police car was seen ap- proaching. The chase continued with the car heading towards a road block which had been set up by RCMP from North Vancouver. But before it reached the road block it smashed into another West Van Police car that was about to enter the chase, at an intersecuon.
