Carlos Galyez, .of 320

Keith Road, appéared in
‘North Vancouver Provincial
Court June 11 and pleaded
guilty to dangerous driving.
Crown counsel Deidre
Pothecary told the court that
the RCMP first saw the
vehicle Galvez was driving
at about 2 a.m. December
28, when it passed a radar
trap on the’ Upper ‘Levels
highway at Lloyd Avenue.

“west at just under 99 mph i in:

a 50: mph zone.

A’ police «car followed | :

Galvez and all sirens and
lights were activated just
before Capilano bridge.

Pothecary said Galvez
then sped upto 110 mphand
drove along the Upper
Levels until he reached the
15th street turn-off in West
Vancouver.

Coming off the exit famp,
the vehicle Galvez was
driving ran over a concrete
boulevard seperating lanes
and then upset a flashing
yellow light and a sign.

Pothecary said that
Galvez then travelled down
{Sth Street at approximately
twice the speed limit before
going out of control and
doing a 180° turn while

trying to go left on Mathers |

Avenue.

At this point, the police
car moved into a position to
cut of Galvez’s vehicle.

Stories differ on what
happened next.
Pothecary said = that

Galvez tried to get by the
police car, collided with it,
lost control of the car and

ended up facing across the.

road on Mathers.

She said that he tried to.
get past the police car again, :
