For example:

* Most of the debris collected is recy-
clable, including plastic bags, bottles,
glass pieces ant metal cans.

e For seven years in a row, cigarette _

butts have been the number .one item

found. Last year, 608,759 cigarette butts:

were collected.
* One hundred and cighty-six animals

were found entangled in” garbage on
beaches in 1996. Only 10 were released :
