(Eric Eggertson photo) SWIMMING SUCCESS Sandi Melody of the West Vancouver Otters swim club placed first in the 200 back at the junior nations championships in Winnipeg last week. She achieved a National level time while doing it too, the first Otter to ever do so. Melody also took third place in the f00 back, sixth in the 200 fly consolations, and eighth in the 400 i.m. consolations. Teammate Ellen Stewart placed third in the 200 breast consolations. The girls were greeted with an impromptu celebration, including cake and roses, upon their return. CHALLENGE CUP Gwenneth Jones and Mary Beauchamp were the winners of the Junior Seymour Girls Challenge Cup held at the Capilano Golf and Country Club recently. Runners up in the golf tournament were Niki and Carolyn In other golfing news, Susan Hildreth, 18, a graduate of Sentinel High School, will be going to the University of Washington on a golf scholarship this year. Hildreth, who is also a member of the Capilano Golf and Country Club, was the first girl to play on the Sentinel schaol team, which reached the finals of the B.C. School Championships this year. She won the third division of the B.C. Ladies Amateur Golf Cham- pionships, played recently at Point Grey Golf Club, and was runner-up in the B.C. Junior Championships. WHEELCHAIR GAMES Swimmer Jeff Stanfield of North Vancouver will be one of a 14 member B.C. con- tingent on the Canadian team competing in the seventh Pan American Wheelchair Games.
