Dear Editor: A letter to the Editor on January 6th disputes your. paper’s view that the Law Society retains a “stranglehold” ’ on what lawyers can advertise. Well, not only does the Law Society “strangle” lawyers, but it also participates in anti-competitive conduct. The Society’s present rules say that any lawyer’s ad must be submitted to a committee for approval: before. béing. published... In catching up on our reading, I was very upset by a letter in the News of December 19 re North Shore taxi drivers. I have ridden in many, many North Shore drivers’ cabs and have always found them very courteous and helpful. As an example, upon hiring a North Shore cab recently on the loss of a loved one, our driver drove away from the funeral home before I could pay him. 1 later looked him up and paid him. I feel a street poll on North Shore taxi drivers would prove our North Shore drivers are doing a fine and helpful job. So kcep CORRECTION Woodward's Home Living Sale, North Shore News.
