Chlorine cars
derailed north of Squamish

VANCOUVER (UPC) - The
B.C. Railway line at Shalath,
about 25 kilometres west of
Lillooet, was back in
operation Monday, a day
after two cars containing
chlorine gas and 11 empty
cars jumped the tracks, a
railway spokesman said.
Spokesman Hugh Arm-
strong said a hoist crane

resume to normal early
Monday afternoon.

Armstrong said the cause

of the freight train's
derailment was still
unknown and would be

investigated by railway and

ministry of transportation,
highways and com-
munications officials.

All 13 cars remained
upright following the
derailment, he said, and no
chlorine gas had leaked. The
derailment forced
passengers on a later train
Sunday to be bused from the
accident sight to Lillooet.
