Teenagers are no longer — allowed to sit in the . mall without being harassed by the security guards, while adults ‘sit~for 15-20 minutes: without “being © asked move. On several occasions I sat down to rest on the benches © provided before continuing with my shopping. Less than 2 minutes had passed before I was asked to leave the mall because I-was “loitering.” When I politely informed the guard that I had stopped for a rest and planned to ‘con- tinue shopping, he threatened to use force to remove me from the mall. I pursued the matter further and asked him why he had not asked the adults, to. who had been there longer than I, to leave. He then picked me out of my seat : and shoved me through the exit doors, ignoring the parcels in my hands. My friends and I have often complained to the management and the police. But both actions have brought no~ results. The management. refuses to listen to my ‘complaints because I'm a teenager and “he is just doing his job.” The police — for refuse to respond unknown reasons. This problem has arisen within the last year and is the result of the security guards’ discrimination against teenagers. I hope a peaceful solution can be found before violent retaliation by teenagers is necessary. Greg Lysack North Vancouver BCRIC share issue -The-citizens. of.
