Around the NEWS offices, I occasionally overhear our lovely ladies arguing the pros and cons of the milk bags. By GUILLERMO LAM A police informant of West Vancouver, whose eyewitness account helped RCMP recover a murder weapon in 90 feet of water, will know in 30 days if he is to be $20,000 richer. The unidentified man, in his 60’s, will be entitled to that amount in reward money for his tip ‘‘which broke the case for us,’’ said Burnaby RCMP S/Sgt. Paul Starek, who headed a_ year-long investigation leading to the arrests and three life senten- ces Feb. 9 of the Joyce brothers for the armed robbery and shooting death of 29-year-old Lumberland employee. Brian Raymond Sauve, on Jan. 25, 1976. Starek said the reward money will be paid after the official 30-day appeal period. during which time the brothers, Richard Joyce, 30, Gordon Joyce, 27, and Peter Joyce, 21; may file for an appeal. If there is no appeal or if the appeal fails the secret informant will receive his reward. RCMP said after the armed robbery they were left without any leads.
