Alex Doubrava’s restaurant of-
fers 17 varieties of the fried bread-
ed cutlets, All of them interesting;
all of them good value for thin-
stretched dining dollars.

_ They range from the unadorned
classic Wiener through to such
racy offspring as the Gypsy, with
its spicy tomato sauce; the patri-
otic Canadiana, with its short
back-and-sides Canuck combo of
cheese and ham, the sporty Biar-
ritz and its asparagus and cheese,
and the Hawaiian Kaanapali, with
its pineapple and ham.

All schnitzels come in small and
tegular portions, which not only
keeps lower-end entree prices to
under $10, but also provides fess
vigorous appetites with a more
digestible entree option.

Still, the small plate is a full meal
by any standard,

All Jagerhof schnitzels come
with pan-fried potatoes and stew-
ed red cabbage spiced with cin-
namon ard allspice.

The schnitzel is fried in a crisp
light batter and stuffed with

various fillings.

An excellent Santa Fe sampled
on a recent Friday night featured
juicy turkey breast and smoky
green jalapeno peppers covered in
melted Monterey Jack cheese and
golden brown schnitzel breading.
It came with a side of hot red
salsa.

The Malaspina, meanwhile, was
stuffed with smoked salmon and
