Hospice Society hoids auction

THE LIONS Gate Hospice Society is hosting its se-
cond annual fundraising auction on Nov. 17 in the
Medical Day Centre at Lions Gate Hospital.

The goal of the Hospice Society this year is to
raise $40,000 in order to purchase eight electric beds
for the Palliative Care Unit at LGH.

A peek at the auction items reveals a Robert
Bateman book and sketch, a champagne brunch ona
sailboat, dinners for two, lunch and golf with West
Vancouver Mayor Don Lanskail, a handcrafted doll
house, stays with various hotels, tickets to a variety
of theatre performances and a vintage bottie of wine.

Auction committee chairman Diane Wills said the
society is reaching out to the community for their
support. The donation of any goods or services

would be appreciated by the saciety.

As the Lions Gate Hospice Society is a registered
charitable organization, al donations are tax deduc-
tible.

Wills said the new beds will provide greater com-
fort for the palliative care patients, increasing their
independence and improving the ability of the staff
to care for patients.

Doors open at 6 p.m. to the auction which in-
cludes a light supper and a no-host bar for the $10
ticket price. The silent auction runs throughout the
evening while the auctioneer calls for opening bids at
the live auction at 7:30 p.m.
