future of West Van

The process of urban planning
goes back a long way in West
Vancouver, even before 1931 when
one of the first comprehensive
zoning bylaws in North America
was Created.

The development of a communi-
ty plan followed in 1946, with sev-
eral updates following.

Bui the new task force will take
an imaginative leap, rather than a
mere study of trends and data, to
envision the character of West
Vancouver most desired.

The concept for the West Van-
couver of 2012 will concentrate on
the municipality’s role in the
region, access (transportation!
issues. the environment, its physt-
cat form, economics and com-
munity services.

The goals could have an impact
on the way the municipality views
commerical and residential objec-
tives, tax and human resource im-
plications, and priorities for public
ano private programs.
