IN THEIR Confessions of two morning people What is a routine day like for you two?: Dean: ‘'The alarm goes off at 4:20 a.m. We both head to the bathroom,..thank God we have two sinks. By 4:40 a.m. we're in the kitchen finishing a bow! uf cereal. By 4:50 a.m. we're in the car and we're here by 5 a.m. “Sam goes to her little traffic post and starts reading newspapers. 1 go upstairs and | read three newspapers. We do a lot of typing, bits about what we’re going to talk about. That quickly eats up an hour. Graham is phoning the weather office, Merv is doing his news, Coach is doing his sports and before you know it, it’s six o'clock and we're on the air. “From 4:20 a.m. to 6 a.m., time flies and from 6 a.m. to 10. a.m. it really, really flies. It’s the quickest five or six hours of our life. “The show is off the air at 10 a.m., but then we go back upstairs into the Zoo room and start writing and talk about what we're going to do the next day. We normally don’t leave here until at least noon. “We try to go to sleep at eight o’clock but it's really tough. We miss ali the good stuff on TV and we don’t get out very much. When you get a job like this, you basically say goodbye to your friends. “You find that you're walking around in a daze a lot, but you sure wake up when you go on the air.”’ Is it hard to get that energy tevel going so early in the morning?: ‘‘No it’s not, It’s just the way it’s been for five years. It’s something you just do, whether or not you’re feeling under the weather, you just kind of do it. You can’t fake it. It’s just a switch you flip in your brain and you become happy.”’ What do you do to relax?: ‘‘We do a lot of reading. We watch a lot of television, news and other informative programs that are going to help us out with the show. A lot of people are able to quit at five and leave it all behind, but with this job you really can’t get away from it.” Do yov fisten to the other radio stations?: ‘“Not very often. We have a pretty good idea of what everyone else is doing. As far as we’re con- cerned, there really is no competition. What we’re doing is unique, and why should we be concerned about what they’re doing? We’re doing the best job that we possibly can do.”’ Groce PROVEN RESULTS with over 8 years experience! Adds Dean, ‘She was also in a movie called the Experts, which you can rent.” “But i can't find me in it,” Samantha tells her husband. ‘“Well we didn’: get that far.
