A COMPREHENSIVE
survey is studying transpor-
tation in the metropolitan
Vancouver area,

Fourteen metropolitan
Vancouver municipalities,
the Greater Vancouver
Regional District, BC Tran-
sit, Transport Canada, the
Provincial Ministry of
Transportation and
Highways, and BC Tele-
phone Company, are work-
ing together to carry out the
survey,

The survey will be the first
comprehensive, _ statistically
Teliable transporation
survey to be done in the
tegion in thirty years. It will
provide essentia! informa-
tion for street, road,
highway, truck route and
transit planning.

The survey will collect in-
formation on how people
use the streets, roads,
highways and public transit
in the metropolitan region.
Five different surveys will be
carried out in this com-
prehensive study.

A random sample of ap-
proximately 30,000
households in the metropoli-
tan Vancouver area will be
interviewed at home about
their travel within the region
in the 24 hours preceding the
interview. The interviewer
will ask:

What trips did members of
the household make yester-
day?
