CAVALIERS RETAINED
their Squirt Division crown
in Bert Duke girls softball
tournament action on the
weekend.

After losing one game
Saturday, the girls) came
back the same day with a
win. On Sunday the
Cavaliers won two games,
and then played a double
knockout against Seaspan,
taking it in two straight with
a 23-14 win posted for the
final game.

The team’s
counterpart, the
Cavaliers, took the Mite
championship, edging the
Flames 5-4 in the double
knockout match game.

Jaycee/Rotary

THIRTEEN IS good luck for
one sports team at least —
the Legion baseball team in
the Jaycee Rotary Little
League is one group that's
more than happy to have 13
straight wins under its belt.

As of Friday, the Legion
lead the four team league by
a healthy five win margin,
several of them picked up in
action last week.

Dary! Downie pitched the
Legion to a 18-3 win over
Eagles May 28, with Dean
Duncan giving the winners
four hits. Duncan was on the
mound two days later when
the Eagles were trounced
again, this time I1-1.

That same day, the Jaycee
squad picked up an easy [5-5
win over Skyline” with
Warren Cannon going the
distance.

June 1 saw another win for
Legion, this time 18-7 over
Skyline. Winning pitcher
was Dary! Downie, and Cory
Wait had three singles.
Skyline lost again one day
later, succumbing to the
Jaycees with a final tally of 9-
5. Eamon Ward pitched for
the winners.

And in the most recent
results available at News
press ume, the Jaycees won
a close one with the Eagles.
finishing the match 22-18
Matthew Yacovelli went the
distance, but the highhght
was a grand slam home run
