Bower was manager and ice-maker for the Vancouver Curling Club for the past six seasons. The job was established at NSWC to handle the graw- ing curling program after curlers were forced to move from Lonsdale Reereation Centre in favour of the Flicka Gymnastics Club. Brower is also a competitive curler who skipped a team to the 1997- 1998 B.C. mixed curling championships in Nelson. NSWC has enrered a 10- year agreement with the North Vancouver Recreation Commission, ensuring con- tinued public access to curl- ing for North Vancouverites. “1 know some = cuslers regret losing their club at the Lonsdale recCentre, but I intend on making them feel welcome at the North Shore Winter Club,” Brower said. “With the ewo clubs coming together in one facility, [am confident we can create one stronger curling club.” Brower will oversee ice maintenance, developing curling programs and = mar- keting at NSWC. “IT want to make sure curlers are provided with good quality i ice and a vibrant pregram.
