Capilano College is mecting industry demands
in the technology-based workplace and its
graduates are acquiring the exact experience
required. The Network Specialist’ program.
Computer Specialist program and the Technical
Computer Professional program, offered through
the Business Administration department, provide
internationally-recognized certifications from
Microsoft and Novell. The College's new
computer animation lab is one of the most
powerfully-equipped training facilities in
Western Canada. It was made possible through
an academic partnership between the College
and California-based Silicon Graphics Lid. The
Digital Animation program complements the
highly-regarded Commercial Animation program
alse offered at the North Vancouver campus.

Students in the College’s three-year Business
Administration program grabbed a first place
prize in the annual B.C. Colleges Business
Competition. This was the seventh time in the
competition's 10-year history that Capilano
College students finished in top spot. Teams
from colleges and institutes from around the
province were required to operate a simulated
medium-sized manufacturing business in a
highly stressful, real-life business environment.
A panel of judges, comprised of senior industry
executives, also acted as the board of directors.
Hosted by the Business Educators Coordinating
Committee, the event offers participants an
opportunity to interact with other students and
members of the business community, and to
practice learned skills.

Capilano College’s new Film Industry Craft Training
Centre is meeting the growing demand for skilled workers
in the B.C. film industry. Courses are coordinated in
consultation with film uniorts, production companies and
industry experts to ensure they meet professional
standards. The College has offered a film program through
its Continuing Education department since 1992. That
program has grown to include almost 50 part-time courses
focusing primarily on craft skills, and apprenticeships. The
centre also offers a full-time credit program in professional film
studies.
