Colleges Business Competition. This was the seventh time in the competition's 10-year history that Capilano College students finished in top spot. Teams from colleges and institutes from around the province were required to operate a simulated medium-sized manufacturing business in a highly stressful, real-life business environment. A panel of judges, comprised of senior industry executives, also acted as the board of directors. Hosted by the Business Educators Coordinating Committee, the event offers participants an opportunity to interact with other students and members of the business community, and to practice learned skills. Courses are coordinated in consultation with film uniorts, production companies and industry experts to ensure they meet professional standards. The College has offered a film program through its Continuing Education department since 1992. That program has grown to include almost 50 part-time courses focusing primarily on craft skills, and apprenticeships. The centre also offers a full-time credit program in professional film studies.
