North Shore News - Special Supplement | towering trees doubtless will come down. That, supposedly, by the lights of some people, will “improve” our view. We hold the belief that the trees are the view, and the view needs na a rath improvement. We can see glimpses of the water through the trees on our tot and beyond, and it’s my firm opin- ion that this dappled view of leaf and sea is better than a clear sea view for at least 250 daysa year in this often pewter- colored climate. We are far enough “our” that I speak of going “to town,” meaning the five or six miles to Dundarave or Ambleside. We tend to keep our distance from Vancouver on the weekends. Our own immediate neighborhood is just fine, .Caulfeild Mall remote but minutes away, favorite restaurants like Chesa, Pat’s and La Toque Blanche all we need for better occasions, Ken’s on Bellevue around the corner from the liquor store a Saturday night favorite for take-out Chinese food. We perhaps flack only a broader variety of fast-food and ethnic restaurants close at hand, The North Shore is one of the most blessed spots on earth. Ir sounds like a rather parochial life, doesn’t it? It is, But for a touch of jatelligent conversation and vicarious cos- mopolitanism, I frequently meet Dr. Murray Newman in Lighthouse Park, out for his morning constitutional. He walks every day to exactly the same lookout, gazes across the water with the distant skyline of Vancouver beyond, and reflects on the meaning of life - aloud, if E happen to be with him. Recently Dro Newman, who of course is the retired director of the Vancouver Aquarium, attended the fourth International Aquarium Con- gress in Tokyo, and was the very first in the lineup of 55 distinguished attendees to meet the Emperor of Japan at the Imperial Palace. Now, if that isn’t a window on the great and mighty world beyond tranquil Tiddlycove, | den’t know what is. i a : Mountain Ridge Dataworks Your Macintosh Connection ; ; ilewcca . 11S Mountain Ridge Dataworks Owner/\ Your One-Stop Apple Sales And Consulting Suurce Offering: © Private tutoring, in-home, office and group instruction ° Help with hundreds of Macintosh applications! © System set-up, troubleshoating and nerworking * Scanner CD-ROM, HD and moder experts © Printer software pmblems are no problem! * Memory and logic board upgrades © Custom database systenis/custom programming * New Macintosh cornputer system sales and leasing » We support you before, during and after your purchase 4 © Offering the hest hourly rates in Vancouver! ® ¥§ © Nearly every client we have assisted has A | e : become a satisfied repeat client PP v f * Now over 450 steady clients strong!
