Bain was charged on Feb. 21 with three counts of gross indecency and one count of indecent assault against more than one student from 1976 to 1983. The charges are connect- ed with incidents that are alleged to have occurred on Nov. 19, 1993, involving a female student. Said North Vancouver District 44 School Board chairman Barbara MacLellan, “It’s sad to say these kind of alleged incidents are mate- rializing all over the place ... 1 don’t think that the district is exceptional in that way.” MacLellan confirmed that suspended teach- ers facing the courts on criminal charges receive full salaries. Bain was suspended from his teaching job four months ago. Samson was suspended from his job in December 1993. North Vancouver teachers are paid an annu- al salary of between $32,263 and $63,872, according to a North Vancouver Teachers’ Association spokesman,
