I have heard about had experiences that some people have had while doing renovations. Answer: The problems you are referring to _usually have to do with delays in completion of the Project: or disapproval of work quality. Sometimes there -are disputes about the materials used for the job or the final cost. Like all consumer transactions, ° however, problems can usually be avoided by taking careful steps before making decisions. When hiring pecple to do home renovations, there are two possibie You can choose to policies and pro- hire tradespeople such as electri- cians and carpenters and oversee the work yourself, or you can hire a general contractor to coordinate the work. Dealing directly with tradespeo- ple can be less expensive, but is obviously more work for you. . While overseeing the job yourself, it would be your respon- sibility to outline the job com- pletely and make sure that the re- quired building permits are’ ap- plied for. You will need to. ensure that you have appropriate insurance coverage in case anyone is injured on the job. It will also be up to you to shop for and select the ma- terials to be used, and if the job produces a lot of waste material, you will need to make arrange- ments to have it hauled away.
