COMPUTER SERVICE ExperBank solves search for real estate specialists | THE REAL Estate Institute of B.C. has announced a unique new computer service now available for use by the public. Called ExperBank, the service is capable of pin- pointing B.C. real estate ex- perts in over 200 categories by specialty, experience, and geographic location. To access the information, members of the business community or the general public can call Jean Nicol, the Institute’s Executive Of- ficer, at the Vancouver of- fice. Nicol is accustomed to taking calls from individuals looking for help with real estate property transactions. MEMBERS RECORDED “‘Tust recently we’ve been able to help someone who wanted a Vancouver proper- ty marketed in Japan. Someone else was looking for an island to buy, and } had two calls about acreage in the Prince Rupert/ Smithers area. In each case, I was able to give the caller the names of three of our members who could help.’’ Nicol feeds the informa- tion into her computer, where the specialties of members are recorded. The program will list| members who have experience in the requested type of transaction or service. Nicol points out that the program can help both businesses and individuals solve out-of-the-ordinary problems: ‘‘I need a mine appraised’’; ‘I’m looking for a solar home’’; ‘‘] have a question about property sur- face rights."* “Our members work in all facets of real property’’ says Nicol, ‘‘We’ve helped a forest company looking for someone to appraise a marina and a_ businessman looking for an expert in commercial leasing in the In- terior; we’ve had callers who want property in the Cariboo; and we've had a caller who was moving to Ontario and = wanted the name of a realtor there."’ Nicol stresses that callers are under no obligation to use any of the names sug- gested, and there is no charge for the service, NO OBLIGATION “We try to give each caller the names of at least three members’’ she says. ‘‘Con- tact is left entirely to the caller, but we may inform our members that their name has been given as a refer- ral.’* There are 1,400 members of the Real Estate tnstitute of B.C. using the designa- tion R.I.(B.C.), which signifies one of the highest levels of education and ex- perience of any real property organization in Canada.
