than 2,000,000 long distance
calls British Columbians are
expected to make,

In addition, extra circuits
have been added to accom-
modate the increased de-
mand, and network and cus-
tomer service personnel, in-
cluding installation | and
repair crews, will also be on
duty during the holiday
period to mect customers
requirements.

However, with such a
large volume of calls, many
of which must compete for
long distance circuits from
Province to province, some
delays are inevitable despite
the Company’s extra efforts.

To help avoid delays, B.C.
Tel offers its customers the
following tips:
© spread your calls over the
holiday period — additional
operators will also be on du-
ty Christmas Eve and Boxing
Day;

* obtain numbers ahead of
time to avoid fast-minute
Directory Assistance shopp-
ing;

© use direct distance dialing,
which is both faster and
cheaper than opera-
tor-assisted calling.

Information on direct
distance dialing and direct
dialing overseas is contained
in the front pages of the
telephone directory.
