MEDALS OF ACHIEVEMENT

CAHA announces awards |

THE CANADIAN Amateur
Hockey Association (CAHA)
and Esso Petroleum Canada
announced today the
establishment of a national
minor hockey awards
program to recognize ability,
sportsmanship and improved
play by 60,000 young
Canadian players in each of
the next three years.

The $900,000 Esso Medais
of Achievement program

will be administered by the
CAHA. More than 20,000
minor hockey teams across
the country will be invited to
Participate.

“We are particularly
pleased that Esso Petroleum,
despite hard economic
times, has chosen to support
minor hockey,” said Murray
Costello, president of the
CAHA. “Esso's program will
help make thousands of
young Canadians better
players, and give them the
chance to be recognized for
some of the qualities that
make this sport great.”

Esso’s nationwide network
of dealers and agents will
play a key role in the in-
novative awards program,

which begins with the 1982-
83 hockey season.

Here’s how the program
works: Esso Petroleum will
make available to every
minor hockey team
