N.S. cricket
loses, seeks
good players

INJURIES PLAGUED the
North Shore Cricket Club
Saturday, when a promising
season opener against
Seattle turned into a
disappointing defeat.

The First Division match
at Norgate Park was marred
by a serious injury to
opening batsman Salim
Patel, who was taken to
hospital with a  gashed
forehead after a fierce rising
ball struck him during the
first over of play.

North Shore struggled
throughout the following
innings, but a fighting 20 by
David Marlow and 15 by
verteran Ted Harris were the

only standouts in a meagre
total of 74.

The club is looking for
help, and serious cricketers
should call Bill Sims at 253-
8952 for more information.

Golfers still swinging on North Shor

HIGH SCHOOL senior boys
and girls golf continued last
week with several impressive
low scores from players.
Although Handsworth’s
Mike Downs had a 79 in
Monday's match, Sentinel
managed to take all 6 points
in the end result. Low scores
of 81 and 82 by Blair Erb and
Yochen Beckmann were a

big factor in the win on the
Seymour course.

Over at Gleneagles,
Carson Graham and Seycove
split their points 3-3 for a
draw. Carson’s Scott Bradley
had the lowest score, 83.

All three low scores
belonged to Sentinel in its
Wednesday game with West
Vancouver. Blair Erb led

with 79, followed by Yochen
Beckmann and Barry An-
derson who each had 8&4,
leading to a 6-O win on the
Capilano links.

Miron Osadchuk shot a
noteworthy 81, helping his
Sutherland. team dump
Balmoral 6-0. The Wed-
nesday game was held at the
Gleneagles course.

all of the parents and coaches
of the minor league teams on
the North Shore Were it not
for them, hauling themselves
bleary eyed out of bed at five
in the moming, or standing tn
a freezing rain on the sidelines
of some soggy fleld, sports
