Honesty and dedication have be their family, their careers and community living. Chick and Doris have successfully met the chal- lenges and weathered the storms as together they walked the pathways of lite. After 58 years of wedded bliss, these former roller-rink sweethearts continue to make memories. Ar St. Paul*s Hospital in Vancouver on Dec. 26, 918 was when Chuck made his entrance on this globe. n the comerstones of His parents and their two children moved to West Vancouver in the early 1920s, where Chuck enjoyed a happy childhood. He has wonderful memories of fish- ing in the creeks and off Dundarave pier. “I remember well some of the shops in Dundarave in those days, like the Willson & Moore Grocery, Morgan's Realty Shop and Charlie Lauder Senior's butcher shop. he recalls. Chuck attended Dundaraye, Pauline Johnson and Inglewood schools, Doris is a North Shore local, of Swedish background. One of three children, Doris had a wonderful childhood. She was born in 1920 at the Cedar Mill site, now known as Lynn Headwaters Park, in Lynn Valley. Doris remembers: *The Cedar Mill was closed in 1927 and burned down in 1929. My father cleared this property by hand, and in 1925 built this home where we now five. [ have lived in this house for 75 years.” When she was six, her family took a three-month trip to Sweden by train and buat. “We travelled by train to SENIORS = ich for NV ci Montreal, boarded the ship Aurania to Liverpool, and, than travelled across E neland by train, and finally by ‘boat to Sweden. | shall never forget that trip. It was so exciting.” Dons was educated in Lynn Valley and at North Vancouver High School. After graduating she complet- ed a sewing course and obtained employment in the Girls Appare] Shop at the corner of Granville and Pender streets in Vancouver. Doris first met Chuck in 1940 at the West Vancouver Roller Rink on 17th and Bellevue.
