David Archer celebrated
the 12th anniversary of his
enduring West Vancouver fish
and chip house on Oct. 7.
Archer opened the Petticoar
in 1986.

He ran it for nine years,
sold it, then retook the
Petticoat reigns in 1996 after
it ran into financial difficul-
ties.

Archer also owns the
Yorkshire Rose in
Abbotstord, which caters to
another side of the British
blue collar diet.

Like the British cuisine it
dishes out, the Petticoat is
one solid dining institution.

Along with fish and chips
(cod, halibut and haddock in
varying portions ranging
from $5.25 to $14, 95), the
Petticoat’s menu offers such
traditional cuisine de
Limeland as Gammon Ham,
Toad in the Hole, Jumbo
Yorkshire Pudding, Beefsteak
and Kidney Pie and Faggots
and Peas. Prices range trom
$6.50 to $8.95.

run from Nov. 13 to 15 in
Whistler.
