Things have changed since the
three or four major U.S. automobile
manufacturers each produced a few
standard models.

Now the cars — and their parts
—~ are coming from Japan and

The result is that they have to
keep an inventory of about $1 mil-
lion to supply the individual
garages, chain stores and the home
tinkerer-mechanic.
